Publisher The Pokémon Company and developer Game Freak announced that Mega Dimension will launch on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, on both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 platforms. The DLC is priced at approximately US $29.99 (3,000 yen) in the Japanese market. Mega Dimension extends the storyline of Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The setting revisits the Kalos region’s iconic Lumiose City, now beset by strange spatial distortions. A mysterious character named Ansha, a cake/bakery chef, appears alongside the Mythical Pokémon Hoopa to guide players into a twisted dimension dubbed Hyperspace Lumiose —a surreal version of the familiar city, filled with powerful Pokémon and new challenges.
In this alternate version of Lumiose, Pokémon may appear at “hyperspace levels” exceeding the franchise’s usual level 100 cap. Within Hyperspace Lumiose, players will face new challenges: Pokémon appear that do not normally roam the standard version of Lumiose City, and many of these creatures are markedly more powerful than anything encountered so far.
In short, Mega Dimension promises new story content (available post-main story of the base game), fresh environments (the distorted city of Hyperspace Lumiose), unique characters and mechanics (via Ansha, Hoopa and the donut/berry system), and “boss-level” Pokémon encounters that push beyond the traditional limits of the series.
The trailer also offered a first glimpse at several brand-new Mega Evolutions that will debut in the expansion. Headlining the announcement are the dual forms Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y, showcased prominently on the DLC’s key art.
Other featured Mega Evolutions include:✨ Mega Baxcalibur, with enhanced cryogenic armor and an ice-flame fin.

✨ Mega Chimecho, channeling psychic soundwaves into destructive melodies.

✨ Mega Diancie, returning with crystalline elegance and new Fairy-type abilities.

✨ Mega Meganium, drawing on luminescent energy to boost defensive support roles.

Each Mega form will come with unique abilities and stat boosts, ensuring they reshape both the in-game meta and competitive discussions alike.
For trainers who have already explored Kalos and completed the base game of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Mega Dimension offers a compelling reason to dive back in—or to wait until the expansion launches. With a hard date of December 10, 2025 and a fresh wave of Mega Evolutions, players have something exciting on the horizon. With a confirmed release date of December 10, 2025, Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension looks set to deliver a truly dimension-defying adventure.
