Act 3 of Destiny 2's Episode: Echoes introduces a substantial Exotic Mission. Bungie's updated content schedule now supports more significant and frequent updates, making this mission possible. Bungie credits the new episodic structure for enabling such a large-scale mission in Act 3.
Destiny 2 game director Robbie Stevens has announced that Episode: Echoes, Act 3, will feature "one of the biggest Exotic missions" in the game's history. These Exotic Missions typically involve quests that reward players with Exotic Weapons or cosmetics upon completion.

Earlier in June, Destiny 2 received its third major expansion, The Final Shape, which serves as the culmination of The Light and Darkness Saga. The Final Shape introduces numerous new missions, weaponry, and other content, adding hours of gameplay to the MMO. Act 1 of its first episode, Echoes, launched on June 11, with Act 2 set to go live on July 16. Meanwhile, Bungie is already making bold promises about the content coming in Act 3 of Episode: Echoes.
In an interview with GamesRadar, Destiny 2 game director Robbie Stevens provided details about the different acts in Episode: Echoes, revealing that an Exotic Mission in Act 3 is "one of the biggest Exotic Missions" Bungie has ever developed. Stevens explained that Act 1 showcases the new content direction the development team envisions, while Act 2 introduces a fresh "set of activities" that will take players "much deeper" into Nessus. He emphasized that the transition from Seasons to Episodes has enabled the team to build such an expansive Exotic Mission, a feat that would not have been possible under the previous content release schedule.
Stevens believes the new cadence allows the development team to seize opportunities to expand and enhance Nessus, describing it as a world that evolves over time. He explained that such expansion wouldn't have been possible without the new Episode format. According to Stevens, the episodic content style helps players better anticipate when "new and awesome things" are coming to Destiny 2. He added that this format allows the team to focus more on the story while maintaining rapid content delivery. However, this view isn't universally shared among Destiny 2 players, as the episodic approach has been somewhat divisive.

As fans eagerly await the next act of Episode: Echoes, Bungie is diligently addressing issues and refining gameplay with patches. Recently, the developers released an update that fixed several problems and reintroduced Grandmaster Nightfalls in Destiny 2. This returning feature allows players to challenge formidable enemies and earn high-quality loot in preparation for the rollout of Act 2.
